Program Description:

The Computer Office Assistant course is a 480-clock hour course designed to develop competence in the word processing and data processing operations necessary for entry-level employment in today’s automated office environment. Students will learn and develop the skills necessary to operate office software applications such as Windows, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, along with Internet Explorer. The curriculum additionally provides students an opportunity to learn job-seeking and interpersonal skills as part of the course.

Entry-level jobs include clerical, customer services, secretarial and office assistant.

Upon graduation students will receive a certificate of completion.

Program Length:

The Computer Office Assistant program takes approximately six months to complete.


Admission Requirements:

Individuals applying for this course are required to:

  • interview with an admissions counselor;
  • be at least 17 years of age (applicants under the age of 18 require written permission from a parent or legal guardian in order to enroll, and a parent or legal guardian must sign the enrollment agreement); and
  • present proof of secondary education (high school diploma or GED certificate) or
  • in the event the applicant is unable to provide proof of secondary education, achieve a passing score on the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test (Verbal 200 and Quantitative 210) for English-speaking applicants (or students seeking enrollment in an all-English vocational program), or a passing score on the Wonderlic Spanish Scholastic Level Exam (13 correct answers, equivalent to High School functioning level) for Spanish speaking applicants seeking enrollment in a vocational program that includes ESL.
  • multiple opportunities are allowed for retaking the same entrance test, having the students to wait a minimum of five calendar days prior to retaking the test; students will be allowed to take a second entrance test on the same day if agrees to take a substantially different test.
